Casner & Edwards has long held gender equity and advancement as a core value of the firm. The firm’s efforts are widespread, from hiring and promotion internally to public recognition and business development efforts. Even as a smaller, mid-sized firm, Casner actively ensures that women are recruited, hired and promoted within the firm and that women are involved in recruiting, hiring and promotion decisions. The firm supports women attorneys in business and professional development, as well as involvement in civic and advocacy activities outside the firm.
Over at least the last ten years, Casner has substantially exceeded the national average of women equity partners, women non-equity partners and women attorneys overall within the firm. The firm also ensures that women hold leadership positions, including at least one position within the firm’s four-person management committee. Casner also invests significant effort in increasing the visibility of our incredibly talented women attorneys, both regionally and nationally. The firm also supports women business owners, women-led not-for-profit organizations, and women-led community initiatives.

Casner’s efforts to combat inequality start within the firm, with active and conscious efforts to ensure that barriers to equity and advancement for women attorneys are identified and removed. The firm is also firmly committed to recruiting, retaining, and advancing the careers of our women attorneys. We continue to work tirelessly toward a future in which gender equality is not only a dream, but a reality.
Casner developed its Women’s Initiative in order to ensure a positive and supportive environment for the firm’s women attorneys. Business development and networking are key components of the committee’s focus and committee members work to create and nurture new connections to support each other’s practices. The Women’s Initiative bridges internal and external gender equity and advancement efforts, by highlighting connections between Casner women attorneys and women-owned businesses, women clients, and women-led not-for-profit organizations.
The Women’s Initiative produces and oversees a number of programs, including:.
Many of our women attorneys are honored for their accomplishments and contributions.
