BOSTON, MA, December 2, 2024 – Casner & Edwards announces that Drew Douglas-Steele, an associate in the firm’s Nonprofit Organizations Group, will present, “Nonprofit Organizations: Beneficial Ownership Interest (BOI) Reporting,” at the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MassCPAs) Nonprofit Accounting & Auditing Committee virtual meeting on Thursday, December 19. In October 2024, she co-authored the client alert, “Year End Deadline for Filing Under Corporate Transparency Act,” which will be a focus of her presentation. 

Douglas-Steele provides a wide array of legal services to nonprofit entities, including assistance with formation, day-to-day operations and tax-exempt status. She also advises clients on a range of for-profit corporate matters such as formation, mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and negotiation, licensure requirements, and corporate governance. Douglas-Steele is a member of the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers. She received her J.D. from Duke University School of Law and her B.A. from Amherst College.

The MassCPAs meets monthly to monitor changes in accounting, auditing, tax and regulatory developments as they relate to the nonprofit world, excluding hospitals and nursing homes. The committee provides educational opportunities to members in public accounting and the nonprofit community and hosts an annual conference and update program.
