BOSTON, MA, October 10, 2023 – Casner & Edwards Partner Sharon C. Lincoln will speak at the 2023 NAAG/NASCO Annual Charities Conference on October 11. Her panel will cover the uses of different business structures by charitable organizations. The presentation is entitled “The Versatile LLC:  What Charitable Board Members and State Regulators Need to Know,” and will focus on what are often complex arrangements and structures within the sector.

Lincoln’s practice focuses on providing clients with strategic advice designed to support and enhance their philanthropic goals. To that end, she assists nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, as well as for-profit social ventures, in connection with a wide range of tax, corporate, transactional and governance matters. 

Lincoln is licensed in Massachusetts and California and assists clients located on both coasts, also representing them in matters concerning the IRS, the Massachusetts Attorney General, and the California Attorney General and Franchise Tax Board. Lincoln is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Tax Section, the ABA Tax Section’s State and Local Tax Executive Committee, the Board of Directors of the TEGE Exempt Organizations Council, the California Lawyers Association, the Boston Bar Association Tax-Exempt Organization Steering Committee, and the Board of Directors of Farm Sanctuary, a national nonprofit dedicated to fighting the disastrous effect of animal agriculture on animals, the environment, social justice and public health through rescue, education and advocacy.

NAAG provides a community for attorneys general and their staff to collaboratively address issues important to their work, as well as training and resources to support attorneys general in protecting the rule of law and the United States Constitution.

The National Association of State Charity Officials (NASCO) is an association of state offices (attorneys general, secretaries of state and other offices) charged with the regulation and oversight of charitable organizations and charitable solicitation in the United States. NASCO provides a forum for states to share information and collaborate on matters of common interest related to charity oversight.
