BOSTON, MA, April 4, 2024 – Casner & Edwards announces that Alana V. Rusin has joined the firm as counsel in the firm’s Litigation Group. Rusin’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, particularly real estate, trust and estates, partnership and professional liability disputes. 

Rusin has a breadth of experience representing business clients in all phases of the litigation process including discovery, mediation and other alternative dispute resolution, motion hearings, trials and appeals. She has particular expertise representing developers, landlords and landowners in large-scale land use and zoning litigation, including disputes over special permits and variances, Chapter 40B permits, and PDA and PUDs. Rusin has also tactfully litigated landlord/tenant lease disputes, partition actions, broker fee cases and other real estate-based contract disputes. 

As an active member of the Greater Boston community, Rusin has been a long-time volunteer with the Women’s Bar Foundation Family Law Project for Domestic Abuse Survivors representing abuse victims on a pro bono basis. She has also previously served on the board of On the Rise, a Cambridge-based women’s shelter, and served as both a legal mentor and on the junior board of Discovering Justice, a non-profit that provides young people with age-appropriate frameworks to understand complex concepts like democracy and governance.

Rusin is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. She was recognized as an “Up & Coming Lawyer” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in 2020 and has been named a “Rising Star” by Massachusetts Super Lawyers for more than six years. Prior to joining Casner & Edwards, she was an associate at another Boston law firm and is also the proud owner of a local business, Little Lovage Club.
