Invested in Our Community

At Casner & Edwards, we believe that when we work together to help those in need, we help create a brighter future for our local communities. That’s why we invest our collective time, talent and enthusiasm in a wide variety of civic, charitable and nonprofit organizations in Boston and beyond.

Through our Community Engagement Committee, we identify and support nonprofit programs and organizations that help our communities, and the people in them, reach their full potential. By fostering community partnerships and relationships, we have been involved in exciting and meaningful pro bono and nonprofit work involving education, public health, and veteran services, among others.

Good Corporate Citizens

Getting up close and personal with the community is an important part of our firm culture. We make it a priority to contribute to a wide range of charitable programs and events, such as:

  • Supports the Wonderfund, a private nonprofit, 501(c)3 serving kids engaged with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF). Casner participates in Wonderfund’s “IMPACT: Backpack” project, which provides children with new backpacks and school supplies for back-to-school. Casner was the top donor in 2024.
  • Sponsors the Annual Lawyers Have Heart 5k Road Race and Summer Celebration to benefit the American Heart Association. This year’s race engaged 1,794 individuals and raised nearly $400,000 to advance research that helps us live longer, healthier lives.
  • Supports the Wonderfund’s Annual Period Party, an event focused on providing necessary feminine hygiene products to girls involved in the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF). More than 250 women attended the event and packed over 10,000 period kits for girls across the Commonwealth.
  • Sponsors the Jane Does Well Women of Courage Event, an annual gathering supporting women experiencing divorce in the Greater Boston area. Jane Does Well is dedicated to serving the unique needs of these women through advocacy, support, and community connection.
  • Organizes a toy collection for ABCD’s (Action for Boston Community Development) Toy Drive, bringing joy to local families in need during the holiday season. ABCD distributes over 6,000 toys annually to more than 720 families in our community.
  • Participates in the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days flower purchase and fundraiser. The Daffodil represents a campaign that brings hope to cancer patients, their caregivers, and families, while providing much-needed funding to support the groundbreaking research, programs, and services of the American Cancer Society.
  • Organizes a Mother’s Day collections drive of toiletries and feminine hygiene products for the Woods Mullen Women’s Shelter.
  • Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston, as part of a corporate-sponsored “Build Day.” The firm has also donated to the cause.
  • Organizes a winter coat collection drive for Coats for Kids & Families in partnership with Anton’s Cleaners.

Pro Bono Legal Representation

We are dedicated to helping the disenfranchised gain access to equal justice.

We handle a variety of pro bono matters to assist low-income or underserved individuals in the firm’s local communities.

  • Served as pro bono bankruptcy counsel to Greater Love Tabernacle Church of Boston, Massachusetts, helping the church through a Chapter 11 case in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts, and restoring the church to financial health so it can continue its critical mission of service to the greater Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan communities. Casner attorney Michael J. Goldberg led the legal team in this matter.
