BOSTON, September 8, 2022 – Boston law firm Casner & Edwards LLP announces that partner Katie L.S. Von Kohorn has been named to the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 2022 “Top Women of Law” list. This highly coveted honor celebrates the exceptional accomplishments of women attorneys as leaders, educators, and mentors, and for their pro bono, social justice, advocacy and business efforts. Von Kohorn and fellow award recipients will be honored at a reception on November 16, 2022 at the State Room in Boston. Von Kohorn joins Casner colleagues Renee Inomata, Sharon C. Lincoln, Joanne E. Romanow, and Lynne F. Riley who have received this honor in previous years.

Von Kohorn’s practice focuses on trusts and estates and exempt organizations. She advises both individual clients and generations of families with respect to estate planning, including estate and gift taxes, probate law, estate and trust administration, inter-generational planning, planning with digital assets and philanthropy. She also serves as trustee of numerous trusts and works extensively on the investment, tax, and legal aspects of trusts, as well as with the varied interests of trust beneficiaries. Additionally, Von Kohorn counsels trustees and exempt organizations on issues pertaining to tax exemption, fiduciary responsibilities and charitable trust law. Von Kohorn is also the Co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative and the Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Committee.

Outside the office, Von Kohorn is a member of the Boston Estate Planning Council and chairs its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force, as well as a member of the Boston Bar Association’s section on Trusts and Estates. She is also a singer, Treasurer and Director of Musica Sacra in Cambridge, a choral group committed to reaching underserved audiences through virtual performances and in-person outreach at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center and Rosie’s Place. Von Kohorn serves on the Community Enrichment and Organizational Development Grant Committee of the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in North Central Massachusetts through philanthropy. Finally, she also serves as the Treasurer and Director of the Radcliffe Pitches Graduate Board, helping to guide the undergraduate members and engage the support of the organization’s alumni, as well as serving as a mentor to undergraduate students through the graduate board’s mentorship program.
