Law
Gary L. Kemp is a Partner in the Business Law
Practice Group.
Mr. Kemp has represented clients on a wide
variety of contract and licensing matters,
mergers and acquisitions, start ups, corporate
financings and securities issues, including
private placements and investment advisor
registrations. He has provided advice
and services to clients in the areas of
manufacturing, computer software, publishing,
consulting and consumer electronics.
Mr. Kemp has an active trademark and copyright
practice, covering evaluation, registration
prosecution and infringement issues. For
example, he successfully represented several
clients whose trademarks were being infringed
upon by third parties. In one case a well
known Boston seafood restaurant chain’s
trademark was misappropriated by a third
party who intended to use it as the title
of a locally produced television program
on fishing and seafood cooking. The title
was changed after intensive negotiations
on behalf of the client.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Kemp was an
associate at Weiss, Angoff, Coltin, Koski
and Wolf, where he represented clients
in several public offerings. Previously,
he served as Staff Attorney at the Massachusetts
Securities Division. In that position
he worked on corporate finance and enforcement
matters and served as Vice President of
the Investor Alert Committee of the North
American Securities Administration Association.
Mr. Kemp attended the University of Wisconsin
and graduated with Distinction. He obtained
his J.D. from Northeastern University
School of Law. He is a member of the Massachusetts
and Boston Bar Associations and the International
Trademark Association. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Driscoll School Extended Day Program in Brookline, MA.
